You should really read Paul Gregory →
At least for one segment this Saturday we will discuss the discussion Paul Gregory is having about Gazprom and, by implication, the global energy market. This account is fascinating, and what we see is a political leader who is trying to wrest control of energy markets away from OPEC and western consumers. Read two or three posts and see if you agree.

A whistle-wetting for our next show. James Hamilton, an economics professor at UC San Diego, has a table that’s worth the visit alone, but read through the entire article.

We will also discuss the big data day that is usually the 15th of each month....

The show is back tomorrow!
We are set with the technical work and will be LIVE on the air at 9-11am Saturdays on Business 1570. A review of the jobs report will start us off, as it does every first Saturday (after the first Friday.) I then have much to catch up on over the last few months while I was away. It feels great to be back, and I am grateful to the folks at Salem Communications-Twin Cities for permitting me the...

Note from a listener
A listener asked about the cost of his mortgage and why it’s so hard to redo a loan.
Do the banks borrow money at the Federal Funds Rate which is now zero percent and then relend it to people getting mortgages at the present rate of around five percent if it were to happen today? Is that the way it works? That would be a good deal for the banks.
The answer is first that the Fed funds...
